Indonesia line up Jordan friendly

AFC – AMMAN, Indonesia will play fellow 2014 FIFA World Cup aspirants Jordan in a friendly tune-up on August 27 for the next round of qualifiers, which kick off on next month.

Indonesia qualified for the third round after defeating Turkmenistan 5-4 on aggregate in the second round while Jordan came through with a thumping 10-1 aggregate over Nepal.

The Jakarta Globe reported that Indonesian Football Association President Dr Djohar Arifin Husin had confirmed that the match would be played in Amman and the Merah Putih would train in Jordan before travelling to Iran for their Group E opener on September 2. Jordan clash against Iraq on the same day in an away Group A encounter.

“We’re also still trying to arrange two friendlies in Indonesia,” Djohar was quoted as saying. “After that, the team will leave for Amman on August 24.”

“Palestine, Timor Leste, Yemen and Tajikistan are interested in playing in Indonesia,” he added.

The other teams in Indonesia’s group are Qatar and Bahrain, while Jordan also have Singapore and China for company.
