Suwon coach believes the Bluewings can win in Iran

GOAL – SUWON, Suwon Bluewings coach Yoon Sung-Hyo bemoaned his side’s poor finishing in Wednesday’s Asian Champions League (ACL) quarter-final first-leg 1-1 draw with Zob Ahan, but remains hopeful his side can progress.

The Korean FA Cup winners must now either win in Iran in the second leg, or at least claim a score draw to have any hope of going through to the semi-finals.

“If we can improve our shooting and be more clinical then we have a good possibility of winning,” Yoon said.

“There is still a long way to go yet and the players will be able to overcome the difficulties involved in a long away trip.

“We think that Zob Ahan will also play defensively in the second leg and we have to be ready for that.”

He added: “It was a frustrating evening and we were not ruthless or clinical enough in front of goal. As we thought, Zob Ahan played defensively and we had no luck in their penalty area.

“We should have scored more but although we didn’t get the result we wanted at home, if we prepare well for the away leg, we can go to Iran and win.”

Zob Ahan coach Mansour Ebrahimzadeh, who guided the club to last year’s ACL final said the job was far from complete.

“I am happy with the result though we know that this tie is far from over,” Ebrahimzadeh said.

“This is only half-time and we have to prepare well for the second leg and if we do that, absolutely we can win.

“This was a long away trip for us and in the second leg it will be Suwon who are in the same condition as we are now.”
