Zob Ahan out of AFC Champions League [VIDEO]

MNA – ESFAHAN, Iran’s Zob Ahan failed to advance to the AFC Champions League semifinal after South Korean team Suwon Bluewings defeated the Isfahan-based club on Wednesday.

In the match held at Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium, Zob Ahan lost to the Korean representative 2-1 in the second leg of the ACL quarterfinal. Zob Ahan drew 1-1 with Suwon Bluewings in the first leg which was held on September 14.

Mohammad Ghazi gave the lead to Zob Ahan after a shot from long range five minutes into the second half.

The Iranian team scored again some minutes afterwards by Farshid Talebi but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Min Yang equalized the match with a header in the 76th minute and the match went into extra time.

After eight minutes into the first period of extra time, referee Khalil Al Ghamdi pointed to the Zob Ahan penalty spot and sent off Zob Ahan defender Ali Ahmadi. Mato Neretljak scored for the visiting team from the penalty spot.

Suwon Bluewings will play winner of Iranian Sepahan and Al Sadd of Qatar in the semifinal round.
