Shojaei undergoes fourth foot operation
GOAL – PAMPLONA, Osasuna midfielder Masoud Shojaei has undergone surgery in Germany in a bid to repair the damage suffered after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot earlier this season.
The Iran international had been sidelined since April after damaging his foot during a clash with La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and has since had three operations in an attempt to heal the injury.
However the playmaker has had to fly to Germany in order to get to the root of the problem.
Osasuna released a statement on its official website stating that there had been complications during the operation at Hessingpark clinic, with the club’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Patxi Cipriáin also present. It was also revealed that the player required a titanium plate.
Shojaei is to remain in Germany for the next 15 days to recuperate before travelling to Pamplona to continue his recovery.
