PTV – RASHT, Esteghlal has beaten Damash 1-0 in the 19th round of Iran’s Premier League (IPL) to extend its lead on top of the table.
Tehran Blues edged past Damash on the host’s turf in the northern province of Gilan on the first match day of the IPL after the winter break on Tuesday.
Esteghlal’s Serbian striker Goran Jerkovic scored the winner in his first game for the Blues eight minutes before the break on a free-kick.
In the other matches of the day, Sepasi blanked Naft Abadan 2-0, Naft Tehran defeated Mes Kerman 1-0, Malavan downed Rah Ahan with a similar result, and Teraktorsazi came from behind to pull a 2-1 victory against Zob Ahan.
Esteghlal is now on top of the table with 40 points, Naft Tehran stands second just four points adrift of the leaders, and Teraktorsazi occupies the third spot with 33 points.
