Queiroz: No time to waste
IRNA – TEHRAN, Iranian National Football Team’s Head Coach Carlos Queiroz said here Wednesday his team is not going to waste even a single day in efforts aimed at ascending to Brazil 2014 World Cup.
According to the IRNA Sports Desk reporter from the Football Stadium of the Azadi Sports Complex after the 2-2 tie game of Iran-Qatar, Queiroz added, “Both teams played well today and scored nice goals, which is why the spectators at the stadium left for their homes happily.”
Queiroz said, “The main objective of the Iranian Football Team was ascending to the next round of the games as the first team of the group, which is mission accomplished now.”
He added, “I hereby congratulate the team’s players, technical team, and coaches who managed to ascend to the next round of the games with the tie result versus Qatar.”
Queiroz expressed satisfaction with Ashkan Dejagah’s fantastic performance at the National Iranian Football Team, arguing, “The national team needs people like Dejagah, who have the experience of presence at great world football scenes.”
The Portuguese head coach of the Iranian team pointed out that we have 90 days left to the next tougher round of the qualifiers where the ascending, or deletion of the hopeful teams would be finalized, said, “I hereby tell those who think we can spare a single day that we cannot afford to do that as of right today.”
He added, “In order to reach the satisfactory level, we need to spend greater efforts and like such countries as Iraq, Jordan, Oman, and Qatar, take maximum advantage of the time left tile the next round of competitions.”
A reporter asked whether in the remaining time it would suffice to just talk, or to also work as well? Queiroz replied, “Ascending to the World Cup games is a very serious task and in order to emerge victorious we need to be victorious at all scenes, including in Iranian and foreign scenes.”
Queiroz reiterated, “After 11 months of presence in Iran I say this, we must be awake and we must work differently, and therefore, supporting the national team must be more and more seriously than it has been thus far.”
He added, “A few months ago I could not speak of such matters, but thanks to having got acquainted with the atmosphere here, I can not speak very frankly. I do not want anything for myself. All I want is for the National Team, as least the way that such teams as Esteghlal, Persepolis, and Tractor Sazi are supported in Iran.”
He added, “In order to ascend to the World Cup we need to prepare the best team, and in order to achieve that goal, we need to pay attention also to the trivial matters.”
Queiroz said, “We cannot even spare a single day, and on this basis I would talks to every official and everyone involved in the Nation Team’s performance aimed at achieving final goal.”
The Iranian football team’s head coach added, “In the vicinity of Iran there are such countries as Iraq, Jordan, Oman and Qatar that have made good investments on their football teams and we too, need think professionally to achieve our objective, which I hope it would be so.”
