Osasuna eye European stage after derby win [VIDEO]

PFDC – PAMPLONA, C.A. Osasuna celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 derby victory over Basque side Athletic Bilbao on last Sunday evening.

Mendilibar’s men took the lead after 10 minutes thanks to Bilbao midfielder Iturraspe’s own goal.

Osasuna’s Raul Garcia helped his team to extend their lead with 15 minutes to go in the first half.

Bilbao’s Spanish national team player Llorente scored ten minutes after the beginning of the second half, but it was too late for the visitors to score the equalizer in the Basque derby at Pamplona’s Reyno de Navarra.

The Iranian international Javad Nekounam (31) played the full 90 minutes and displayed a solid performance.

Osasuna is now on 6th position with 38 points after 26 matches in La Liga.
