queiroz_action_2TEHRAN TIMES – TEHRAN, Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz said on Sunday that Iran will face Mozambique for a warm-up match.

“In accordance to our plans, Mozambique could be a good opponent for us to test our new players. Friendly matches against teams such as Mauritania and Mozambique will help us to prepare ourselves. There were other options but we understood that the African team is better,” Queiroz said prior to Wednesday’s match against Mozambique.

“Our next objective is to hold a training camp in Turkey. We will travel to Turkey on May 21 and play friendly against Iraq on May 27 in Istanbul. Afterward, we will fly to Tashkent to play our first match against Uzbekistan in the Asian qualifying for the 2014 World Cup,” the 59-year-old said.

Iran has been grouped with South Korea, Uzbekistan, Lebanon and Qatar in the competitions.
