daei-shout33PFDC – REY, Iranian football legend Ali Daei will coach Rah Ahan for another season.

The 43-year-old had led the club to a disappointing eleventh spot in Iran’s Persian Gulf league last season and seemed to be heading out of the club, also being rumoured to return to Persepolis FC.

However, after Portugese Manuel Jose was revealed as new Persepolis coach, Daei finally agreed to a contract extension with Rah Ahan.

Ali Daei is the all-time leading goalscorer in international football history, having scored 109 goals in 149 caps for Iran.

Following his retirement from Team Melli, Daei switched to coaching and led Saipa Karaj to the Iranian league title in 2007 and to the Asian Champions League quarterfinals a year later.

The same year, Daei was appointed Iran’s national team coach and helped a struggling Team Melli to the final round of World Cup qualifiers, but was released after disappointing results in 2009.

The former Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin striker went on to coach Persepolis, winning two Cup titles in two seasons before moving on to Rah Ahan in 2011.
