andranikcelebratingPFDC – DOHA, Iranian international midfielder Andranik Teymourian made the headlines in Al Kharaitiyat’s second Sheikh Jassem Cup match, scoring both goals in the clubs’ 2-0 win over Al Markiya.

The club had only played out a 1-1 draw against Al Shahaniya midweek and now sits in first position of group B.

The Sheikh Jassem Cup is a prelude to the Qatar Stars league. Last year, Iranian defender Hadi Aghily and Al Arabi won the competition.

Aghily and his new club Qatar SC will kick off their campaign against Al Sadd later on Sunday.

Teymourian, who had played for Bolton, Fulham and Barnsley in England from 2006 to 2010 before a refused work permit ended his Premier League career despite strong interest from Blackburn, had left Esteghlal Tehran for the ambitious Qatari club recently.

The 29-year-old reportedly will earn approximately two million USD for one season, with a a luxury apartment and car being part of the deal.
