Iran climbs one position in March 2013 FIFA rankings
Press TV – ZURICH, The Islamic Republic of Iran has climbed one position in the March edition of the FIFA rankings to land in the 57th spot in the world.
According to the latest monthly rankings released by the world football’s governing body on Thursday, the Iranian team has collected 540 points.
In Asia, Iran holds the fourth spot behind Japan, Australia and South Korea.
Asian giants, Japan, rose to the 26th in the latest FIFA monthly rankings, and held on to their berth at the top of Asia. The Samurais are followed by the Australians and South Koreans, who occupy the 39th and 47th slots respectively with 634 and 601 points.
The Spaniards remain the top-ranked football team in the world with 1,610 points, followed by second-place Germans, who have amassed 1,473 points.
Argentina stands third with 1,309 points.
