Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei has asked his side to treat Buriram United with respect.

Ghalenoei made the remarks in the Iranian capital on Tuesday, a day before the Tehran-based team will take on Thailand’s representative for the first leg of the Asian Champions League quarterfinal in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

“I believe that Buriram is a strong team and takes advantage of the good players, especially in the midfield. We must respect them. Esteghlal is also well prepared for the match. Damash’s win in the Iranian Professional League gave us a great boost ahead of the match against Buriram,” Ghalenoei said in the pre-match news conference.

Esteghlal coach called the fans to support the team during the match against Buriram.

“I am sure that 80,000 spectators will come to the Azadi Stadium to support us. We should not concede a goal against them, this is our priority,” Ghalenoei stated.

Buriram will miss Thailand defender Teerathorn Bunmathan, who is suspended.

Esteghlal midfielder Andranik Teymourian will also miss the match because of injury.

The second leg of Asian Champions League is scheduled to be played on September 18.
