Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran football coach condemned Tuesday the fatal bombings near the Iranian embassy in Beirut.

Two suicide bombings rocked Iran’s embassy compound in Lebanon, killing at least 23 people including an Iranian cultural attaché and hurling bodies and burning wreckage across a debris-strewn street.

Lebanon’s Asia Cup qualifier with Iran took place behind closed doors at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium in the wake of the terrorist attack.

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones as a result of the terrorist attack,” the Portuguese said.

“In my opinion, the match should not have taken place due to the incident. It’s a sad day for football. We could not enjoy football because of the incident,” Queiroz said.

Iran defeated Lebanon 4-1 and qualified for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
