Lothar Matthaus to coach Iran?

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Lothar Matthaus has reportedly been linked with Iran as a possible replacement for coach Carlos Queiroz after the 2014 World Cup.
Reports suggest that Germany’s most capped player is poised to take charge of the Iranian football team.
Iran has been pitted against Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Nigeria in Group F of the 2014 World Cup. It has emerged over the past month that Iran’s Portuguese coach is not going to extend his contract after the campaign.
Matthaus has been without a team since he was sacked as Bulgaria coach after a dismal Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
The 52-year-old German previously coached the Hungarian national team and the clubs Rapid Wien, Partizan Belgrade, Red Bull Salzburg, and Atletico Paranaense.
“I’ll never reject a serious offer, and at least I’ll think about it,” the Fars News Agency quoted Matthaus as saying.
Lothar Matthaus has won more Germany caps than anyone else, 150, and went to nine major international tournaments, captaining the 1990 World Cup-winning team.
