Tehran Times – ATHENS, AEK Athens is planning to sign Iranian international midfielder Masoud Shojaie in the summer transfer window.

Masoud’s contract with Spanish Segunda División sideLas Palmas expired on June 30 and now he is a free agent.

Former Las Palmas technical director Branko Milovanovic who moved to AEK Athens last month is trying to transfer several names from the Spanish side to strengthen his new club in Greece and Masoud is one of them.

AEK Athens was relegated from the Greek Superleague after the 2012–13 season for the first time in its history. In an effort to discharge the immense debt created by years of mismanagement, its directors chose for the team to compete in the third tier Football League 2 for the 2013-14 season, thus turning the club into an amateur club.

The club will compete in the second tier Football League for the 2014-15 season.
