Tehran Times – NIJMEGEN, Several Dutch Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Iranian international winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh with SC Heerenveen leading the race.

The 21-year old has been linked with a move back to Dutch Premier League after his current team NEC Nijmegen was relegated to the second tier last season for the first time in 20 years.

Jahanbakhsh who joined NEC last summer for a fee of only €220,000 is under contract until 2016. NEC has rejected SC Heerenveen twice asking for bigger offers. Heerenveen has doubled their bid with NEC expected to accept the bid, according to the Dutch football magazine Voetbal International.

“We are not under pressure to sell Jahanbakhsh so we just let him go for the right price. There are still five days until the transfer window close, anything could happen,” NEC CEO Bart van Ingen said.

However Heerenveen is not the only team interested in Jahanbaksh as FC Groningen is also monitoring the situation closely.

Jahanbakhsh was part of the Iranian national football team in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He played his first World Cup match against Nigeria, coming on as a substitute for Ashkan Dejagah in the 73rd minute.
