Queiroz will return to Iran, says IFF chief

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran’s Football Federation president Ali Kaffashian has announced that Carlos Queiroz will return to sign his contract extension as the head coach of Iran’s national football team.
The Portuguese coach whose visa was due to expire, flew to Dubai last Friday, leaving the future of Team Melli’s coaching role uncertain.
“We have prepared everything Queiroz has asked. We have organized a well equipped training camp which was his priority. He will return to Iran very soon to sign his contract extension. He will be Iran’s coach in the AFC Asian Cup” Kaffashian said.
With less than four months left before the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, the Iranian team is without a coach.
Iranian media acknowledged that Hossein Faraki tops the list of candidates for leading the national team if IFF couldn’t reach an agreement with Queiroz.
Under the tutelage of Carlos Queiroz, the Iranian national football team played out a goalless draw against Nigeria, suffered a late 1-0 defeat against Argentina, and lost 3-1 to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group F of the 2014 World Cup.
