Tasnim – TEHRAN, Tehran’s Persepolis football team suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Tractor Sazi in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) on Friday evening.

Mohsen Bengar found the back of the net with a header in the 38th minute. The Persepolis defender also scored an own goal in the 69th minute.

Edinho gave Tractor Sazi the lead with four minutes remaining and Saman Nariman Jahan made it 3-1.

“We didn’t deserve to lose. Our players created several chances and even hit the bar. They (Tractor Sazi) created three or four chances and scored three goals,” Persepolis coach Ali Daei said in the post match news conference.

Elsewhere, Paykan edged Foolad 1-0, Rah Ahan drew with Saba 2-2 and Saipa defeated Zob Ahan 1-0.

Persepolis is ninth with eight points after seven weeks.

Arch rival Esteghlal is top of the IPL with 18 points, followed by Tractor with 16 points.
