Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, The website of the Iranian football federation (IFF) has published a list of more than 40 players as a preliminary squad for the upcoming training camp in Portugal.

With the exception of Bakhtiar Rahmani, the list includes all 23 World Cup participants while adding some drop-outs such as Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari, Sardar Azmoun, Mehdi Sharifi but also and fresh faces like Soroush Rafiei, Morteza Pouraliganji or Vouria Ghafouri.

Surprisingly Iran’s former number one goalkeeper Mehdi Rahmati, who had fallen apart with Carlos Queiroz during the last World Cup qualifying campaign, is among the seven invited goalkeepers.

On Thursday Queiroz will trim the list to 26 players, who will then participate in the training camp in Portugal from October 4 – 11.

Iran will play friendly matches verus Portuguese first league sides Estoril and Benfica there.
