Iran Olympic football team edges past Kuwait
Tehran Times – KUWAIT CITY, Iran Olympic football team defeated Kuwait 1-0 in a friendly match in Kuwait City on Thursday.
Behnam Barzay scored the only goal of the match for the visiting team in the 34th minute after Arsalan Motahari was fouled in the penalty area.
Iran reduced to ten men when Majid Hosseini received his second yellow card after a harsh foul on Kuwaiti striker.
Seven minutes later Kuwaiti, midfielder was sent off with a straight red card after a foul on Ali Karimi.
“We were the better side in the whole 90 minutes and fortunately we won. I hope we can get good results in the upcoming games and make Iranian fans happy,” Mohammad Khakpour said.
Iran has been drawn in Group C of the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship alongside Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Nepal and Palestine.
