Saudi Authorities Reportedly Cause Delay of Persepolis Flight
Mehr News – RIYADH, Saudi Arabian authorities did not issue permission for the Iranian flight carrying the Persepolis squad on Sunday, causing the flight to be delayed by 5-hours.
Expressing regret over the sabotage by Saudi officials in Riyadh airport, Persepolis football club vice-president Mohammad Hossein Nejad-Fallah said the country has spent millions of dollars to cause a delay of the flight carrying the Iranian football club, Persepolis.
He said the Saudis spent $15 million for some alleged maintenance problems in Riyadh airport which resulted in the delay of the flight of Persepolis football team which was scheduled to leave Tehran at 15:00.
After the flight arrived in Riyadh, the Iranian club team was also delayed at the airport due to visa issuance problems for two and a half hours.
“Each flight needs permission from the destination country, and Persepolis’ team is boarding now after a five hour delay,” Media Director of Persepolis Football Club Khomarlo told IRNA on Sunday.
He said that all members of the team are present, except Masoud Homami, who has been issued a travel ban.
