HITC Sport – BRIGHTON, Brighton look to have won the race for the Celtic and Norwich target.

According to a report in de Gelderlander, Brighton have had a bid accepted for NEC Nijmegen winger Alirez Jahanbakhsh, after a long-term interest in the player.

The Championship side appear to have won the race for his signature, despite serious interest in him from two other clubs – both with bigger reputations.

Celtic were linked with making a move for him this summer, as per the Scotsman, whilst Voetbal International reported that Norwich City – newly promoted to the Premier League – had also been impressed by his talents.

The report of Brighton’s bid claims that NEC have accepted an offer in excess of €2 million, with Jahanbakhsh’s agent already travelling to England to assess a move. Personal terms have yet to be agreed, and his agent is quoted in the same article claiming that a decision will not be rushed even with the fee being agreed.

If Jahanbakhsh does agree a move to the Amex, it would be something of a coup for Brighton, considering the interest in him from the two other clubs.

Celtic can offer Champions League football and almost guaranteed silverware, whilst Norwich are preparing for a return to the Premier League, and the international exposure that brings.

During the 2014/15 campaign, Jahanbakhsh, 21, made 31 appearances for NEC. He netted 13 goals and registered 18 assists, as the club won promotion from the Jupiler League in first place.
