Persianfootball.com – ATHENS, Karim Ansarifard was the matchwinner for Panionios Athens in Greece’s Super League on Saturday.

The Iranian striker scored both goals in a 2-0 win over PAS Giannina which catapulted Panionios at least temporarily on second position of the ranking.

After converting a loose ball from close range just five minutes into the match, Ansarifard doubled the lead with a great strike from just outside the penalty box, 15 minutes later.

The brace increased Ansarifard’s goal tally to five this season, of which four goals came in the league and one in the cup.

On Monday, Sardar Azmoun scored a 89th minute 1-1 equalizer for FK Rostov in Krasnodar, but Rostov conceded another goal in injury time.

Nevertheless, Rostov remain in sensational second position of the table. It was the third league goal this season for Azmoun, who also scored one in the Cup.

Elsewhere, Reza Ghoochannejhad came on as second half sub in a 0-3 league defeat for Charlton.

“Gucci” was the only other Iranian in Europe to get some minutes this weekend, whereas Ezatollahi (ineligible), Haghighi (bench), Hajsafi (suspension) and Jahanbakhsh (injury) didn’t play.
