Saipa signs Iran captain Teymourian
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football team captain Anderanik Teymourian has completed a move to Saipa with a six month deal on Tuesday.
Teymourian is supposed to be Javad Nekounam successor who terminated his contract with mutual consent last week.
“Nekounam was one of our key players in the first half of the season. After he left we had a couple of choices to sign as his successor in which Anderanik Teymourian was the best. I hope he could show his class in the second half of the season,” Saipa head coach Majid Jalali told reporters.
Ando, who is the first Christian to captain the Iranian national team, made a name for himself in the 2006 World Cup in Germany when he was 23. After great performances in the World Cup he moved to play in Premier League sides Bolton Wanderers and Fulham.
Teymourian has capped 97 times for Iran and scored nine goals.
