Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Former Iran national team and Persepolis football club striker Homayoun Behzadi died on Friday morning.

Behzadi died at age 73 at home after losing his battle with lung disease.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery.

Behzadi started his playing career at Shahin in 1958 and joined Paykan after seven years.

In 1968, Behzadi joined Persepolis and announced his retirement in Tehran based club in 1975.

Behzadi was named as one of the members of Persepolis Hall of Fame and the club thanked him for his great performance during his senior career at the popular club.

He was named as one of the twelve great players of Persepolis in the 1970s.

Behzadi won the Asian Nations Cup with Iran football team in 1968 and 1972.

He won 35 caps for Team Iran and scored 13 goals.
