Iran climbs 10 places to 27th in FIFA rankings
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football team climbed ten positions to 27 in the FIFA global football rankings published on Thursday.
A pair of wins for Team Melli against Uzbekistan and South Korea in the 2018 World Cup qualification means the team finds itself above Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Sweden and Paraguay.
Iran has maintained its position as the best Asian team, followed by Australia (40), South Korea (44), Uzbekistan (48) and Japan (51).
Germany has moved up to second behind Argentina as Belgium dropped out of the top three.
Spain, who beat Belgium in a friendly last month, is back in the top 10.
The next edition of the FIFA World Ranking will be released on 24 November.
