Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iranian football club Esteghlal has parted ways with Northern Irish coach Mick McDermott on Monday.

The 43-year-old coach was appointed as Esteghlal interim coach on Sept. 21st as replacement of Alireza Mansourian and the Blues earned their second win in Iran Professional League under his leadership.

After signing a contract with Winfried Schaefer, McDermott returned to his former position as the team’s assistant.

In a session held in Esteghlal club on Monday, the Iranian football club terminated its cooperation with him.

McDermott began his work in Iran as the fitness coach in Team Melli in 2011 but after one year joined Al Nasr of the UAE as an assistant coach.

He returned to Iran in 2016 as Esteghlal assistant coach.
