Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz says Alex Ferguson is in his prayers after the Manchester United legend underwent emergency surgery following a brain haemorrhage.

The 76-year-old former Manchester United manager remains in intensive care in a Salford hospital after an operation on a brain haemorrhage on Saturday.

“I wish my good friend Sir Alex Ferguson well and hope for a speedy recovery from his surgery. I also praise his family for their support,” Queiroz said.

Queiroz began his work in Manchester United at the start of the 2002–03 season, working alongside Sir Alex Ferguson, who had gone without an assistant since the departure of Steve McClaren in the middle of 2001.

Queiroz replace departing manager Vicente del Bosque in Real Madrid in the summer of 2003 but returned to United as assistant coach in July 2004.

The Portuguese, who qualified Iran for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and will lead the nation again in Russia this year, was named Team Melli coach in April 2011.
