Carlos Queiroz laments Iran’s lack of cutting edge
Tehran Times – DOHA, Iran national football team coach Carlos Queiroz could not hide his displeasure at his side’s lack of cutting edge in the match against Venezuela.
Team Melli were held 1-1 by the South American football team but the Asian first ranked team created so many chances in the friendly held in Doha, Qatar.
The draw extended Iran undefeated streak to five matches.
“We enjoyed the possession and had so many opportunities. When you are playing Portugal and Spain you are forced to defend but in the match against Venezuela we created so many goalscoring chances,” Queiroz said after the match.
“We could have scored six goals and we must take advantage of our chances in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. I am not happy since we have missed so many goalscoring chances in the recent friendly matches,” the Portuguese added.
“Our players must prove themselves within 21 days. I will announce the final list for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup on Dec. 17,” he concluded.
