Tasnim – TEHRAN, Ex-Team Melli and Persepolis defender Afshin Peyrovani has been appointed as Persepolis’s sporting director.

He replaced Mohsen Khalili in the Iranian popular football club on Wednesday.

Peyrovani, 47, is a familiar face for Persepolis’s fans since he has played in the team for 11 years from 1993 to 2004.

He also coached Persepolis for a while after the departure of Afshin Ghotbi in November 2008.

Peyrovani worked as sporting director of Iran national football team in 2016 but parted company with Team Melli after falling down with Carlos Queiroz.

Peyrovani has made 66 appearances for Iran national football team and represented the team at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
