Iceland is very similar to Iran. They don't have the biggest talents in the world, but play with heart and gheyrat.
If you play with gheyrat and heart, you are always going to be difficult to play against.

I think we can do very good against Russia, Poland and also Switzerland. I also like Colombia or Chile as other group headers. From other european pot, i like ukraine, or greece, or iceland, montenegro or Irland / North Ireland...

From Africa i think we can do very good against DR Congo or Tunisia from Group A CAF, Burkina Faso / South Africa / Senegal from Group C or Egypt / Uganda from Group E.

Disagree this isn't a EL or UCL draw for our boys which we hope they shine against bigger teams so they can transfer to a better club, this is a World Cup draw 80 million people or more's hopes are on this draw and i want TM to advance to second round of course it would be better to pull out a Costa Rica like 2014 but that is a really tough thing to do and i prefer a group like 2014. I'm sure everyone's dream here is to see TM advancing to second round just like me so lets hope for a group that fits us the best.

Iran-Argentina will forever be more memorable than Iran-Tunisia or Iran-Costa Rica that NO ONE will watch. Our players and team will be much more respected when we put up a good fight against a good side vs. winning vs. a crap side. And WC is a good showcase for our players as well, they have more chances of getting picked up if they play well vs. making it to KO round. I want the KO round to happen but our team isnt used to playing that many games close to each other, chances are by the time we make KO, we will be weaker and get thrashed by a good team. We also step it up when we play better teams as opposed to crap teams we play crap too and it becomes a bore fest like the Nigeria game.

Iran-Bosnia disaster game, our respect went away

Based on that we have to know our strength and weaknesses and we need more experience in the WC. We can aim for KO round once we become a regular at the WC like a Japan or Korea. Just take it one game at a time, i dont care what opponents we get.

In all honesty, while this looks like an extremely difficult group I would say we would have some decent chances at progression if we can snatch a point against colombia, beat costa rica, and get either a draw or win against england. The rest will just come from the inconsistencies of England who will likely drop points against Colombia and either us or Costa Rica

I wouldn't want to play them. We match up poorly against them. I'd rather play any European team (besides Germany) than them.

having russia as the 1 pot team in our group would be ideal. They are easily the weakest first pot team, and have showed nothing match after match. Plus we will have played a friendly with them, and 3 of our players our familiar with their team/players/style from league play.

Im not gonna pin my hope to get an "easy" group. I did in previous World Cups and it raised my expectations, only to get disappointed. In the last three World Cup's, Iran have always been placed in a group where we perceive the others teams as beatable. In
98: Jugoslavia, USA and Germany.
2006: Mexico, Portugal and Angola
2014: Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia

Most of us were jubilating and getting a hard-on by the thought of progressing through these "mild" groups. Then when that didnt happen, it left a bitter taste and huge disappointment.
Now I will hope for something different. To get into a group with "big" teams.
Now, I dont know the seeding mechanism and am not too up to date on ranking and such. But I would like a group like this
