World Cup Qualifier: Iran - Syria; Info, Updates and Live Reports (05.09.2017)
Maybe our magic key to switch to offensive style would be: SAMAN GHODOOS I really wanted to see him play but hopefully we see his style in the friendly test against Russia

IRAN WILL ROCK IN ASIA AGAIN IF IRI IS OVERTHROWN... MUBARAK, BIN-ALI, NOW IT IS THE TURN FOR SEID ALI
No. I've just seen you post for 20 years on Iranian forums and you only show up to say "i told you so" or gloat about an Iranian defeat.
In all honesty, some of us excluding me, bought this un-scored streak as if we had really accomplished anything. We were placed in a group of very weak Asian teams. To be the #1 team in Asia is a disrespect to Japan in my opinion. Ok when you mention about my posts for the past 20 yrs, I have to mention to you that the saddest time for me as a TM fan was our inability to qualify for the 2002 WC. I thought we had a very strong and powerful team that year. Ali Daei was still very effective and Karimi was in his absolute prime. One of the most gheyrati games I have ever seen from TM, aside the miracle in Melbourne, was the game against USA in '98 world cup. It pissed off the americans so much that in their invitation to California, they explicitly mentioned that we should represent our A team there. To be honest, since the '98 WC I have to say this is our weakest team yet. I am not a downer.. I am just a realist. I love you and I hope nothing but positive energy for you and everyone else for rest of the week.
The result didn't and doesn't matter to us guys... CQ was trying some new guys so they gain some experience gelling with the rest of the team and he achieved his goal.
Remember, our problem in the last WC was that we didn't have any depth on our bench and the whole team was dead by the 3rd game.
If we want to go to the 2nd round this time, we need depth and CQ has to have the option of resting some some key players.
Also, for those of you who came down hard on Ezi in the last game (aside from the red card), today proved that he's such a big integral part of the team... our defensive midfield was by far the weakest link today.
Please don't say it doesn't matter. IT DOES MATTER, it's called RANKINGS and it did matter to us because we were having a clean sheet record. Carlos Quieroz is a good manager, but unlike any other person he does make mistakes and today was one of those days, sadly. And it confuses me how we have Ansari invited but not Tafazolli??? There is no way I'm going to believe Ansari is better than Tafazolli after today's performance. All in all, we could have done better defensively because in WC there isn't going to be easy teams, for all we know we could be in death group and playing like this will gets torn apart.

12 games without conceding a single goal, back to back WC Qualification as nr1 in our group.
TROLL alert!
Iran deserves better, TM deserves better. O.Gfrom '97 & still here
This team could be much stronger with very little tinkering.
Jalal Hosseini will obviously start in the World Cup. That will help our defence immeasurably.
Today was disappointing, but the overall trend is very positive. When analyzing data, you should look at the trend, rather than focus on individual data points.
Many years ago, trip-ups against teams like Syria were routine. Now, they're rare.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.
In all honesty, f this match and the people who said for us too lose against them on PURPOSE. In what world is Match Fixing ever ok? That goes against all morals and the integrity of the game! Are Iranians or are we Arabs? Jesus Christ tell me this is a dream.
Edit: At first I thought they were just trolls/trolling, but NO it was to the point where someone who wanted Syria to win left the site...
Please don't take me wrong guys. I hate Iranian regime and their love for all these elements in the region. I am not happy for Syria because they are an ally of Pasdars. No it is actually for exactly an opposite reason I am happy for them. For their people whose country has been destroyed for the battle between the most evil forces in the region; ISIS, ASAD and Sepah.
If you ask me as a human would I be happier to extend an already broken world record than seeing a smile on the face of a Syrian kid whose family are all dead; I choose the latter.
Not that I am a great human. It's just my normal reaction to have tears to see how their players were crying and screaming to the skies. There will be hundreds of these pictures broadcasted in the next 24 hours; please pay close attention to them and you see the cries of a nation.
I know we were superior and they got lucky; however to be fair; they also worked really hard. While Uzbekistan was failing as usual they regrouped and beat two rich nations a of Qatar and China only for their war-thorn nation. And they did what Asia failed to do in 12 games. It was getting boring and annoying for many to see but they broke the odds and scored against a team that the world (even likes of Messi hardly scores against) dreams to open their net. Yes; loving your country and being so determined can create many chances. Syria had 10 shots a few less than Iran; while whole Asia only managed 7 shots in 6 games against us! So if a country deserved to tie was Syria.
Even though I wanted Uzbekistan to qualify beating Korea and qualify, I am happy for Syrians who teach Uzbeks lessons of consistency and determination.
We had already broken the record and this record was halted making a destroyed nation happy.
I wish Syria success in beating Saudis and going to continental playoff. I wish them a happy ending for their nation for all wars to stop; to have a democratic system and to rebuild the country.
A qualification to a World Cup can be a great unity force and probably that's why they are so determined and cry blood to achieve that.
Cheers to Iran, Korea, Japan, Australia and Syria for all these great months of hard work which paid off for them as qualification or playoff birth.

Exactly. It will cause Team Melli to keep their feet on the ground. Plus it's good to make the mistakes now so we have enough time to mitigate them before the world cup.

Now we see how valuable Hosseini and Montazeri are in the defense. We need at least one of them to keep the defense line intact. With both gone our defense line was truly shaky, especially in this game.
And it is also evident that CQ was truly using this game as warm up game for the WC. Deep down inside he knew something like this might happen but he is planning for long term.
I am just so SICK to my stomach right now that we let these DIRTY Syrians get the better of us right in our own Stadium.

Sorry! I'm not following!
We already broke a world record and usually world records will not continue forever. Do you agree? And can you elaborate more what you mean by saying if we play like this we will be torn apart? I mean we are the best defensively. We need to improve our offencive style that can also protect the backline. That is the major issue now. We know we have no problem against no one if we choose our defensive park the bus style and we can break all records defensively. We may be able to become a Greece that defends all game and score on a lucky counter attack. However having an offensive style improves our odds better in the World Cup as defensive style may prevent shameful losses but knowing that referees are not nice to our team; we cannot be the lucky Greece. Therefore we are doomed to find that key player that can connect our great defence with our talented front. That's why CQ is looking everywhere. Ezatollahi was missed today. He is great for our defensive style and him not being there is the main reason we conceded; however for the offensive style we need a change; perhaps Saman Ghodoos is that key player CQ is searching for. Let's remember that Saman has played as CAM behind the forward. We will see though.
If we cannot find the necessary depth in offence and the bridge between CM and forwards; then CQ will adopt his stingy defensive tactics hoping for a lucky run to cause a shock in the World Cup.
So I don't think our problem is defence bro. We are among the best in the world in that department. Our problem is our frontline space and transitional turnover with the midfield.

We should also be thinking about incorporating Tafazolli into the team, he may not be as good as Hosseini or Montazeri, but he is an improvement over the crap we call defense momentarily...

Dude, who are you? Tafazolli's cousin?
Tafazolli would have been torn apart in today's game. Trust me, if CQ wanted him, he would have joined one TM camp by now.
