At this stage of the tournament I’d also prefer a 4-2-3-1 formation with Saman in the 10 since it is less risky in terms of avoiding playing a high line, risking conceding sloppy goals through nervous mistakes in possession or worse still, being forced to make transitional fouls when we’re out of shape that could lead to controversial refereeing or VAR decisions. No need to risk a 4-4-2 from the start, and leaves that open as an option to switch to if we’re chasing the game.

However the issue with GN’s squad selection is our lack of options in the double pivot. For me on evidence so far, Omid remains the best option alongside Saeed but his legs are clearly not what they used to be and we also need him fresh hopefully for the final. Ehsan is one option there but I prefer his calm, creative play passing out from left back in this game.

Taremi comes back in, drifting in from the LF position for me - against Qatar his link up play with Azmoun from there should be good enough to open them up. He will have something to prove and I think he will step up for this one.
What do you think about what to do with Omid if he's tired? Before the tournament I rated him as our 2nd best DM option after Ezat but seeing Cheshmi as a DM for us against HK I think Cheshmi slightly edges him.

I really wanted to support this team but the interviews and social media posts of them are too disgusting..if the majority of people would identify themselves with this team there would have been huge street parties after such a historic victory..the opposite was the case if u look at social media..

btw my fathers name is Majeed Halvaei..also famous for his winning goal against Brazil in olympics 72..

rumours that the stadium will be changed to a bigger stadium due to a bigger fan presence, idk how professional that is considering the game is in 3 days.

              Folks,

We at PFDC all unanimously say F*#@ the IR, and despise it with all our hearts.

But I urge everyone to refrain from engaging in heated political arguments in Asian Cup-related threads. Next political posts leading to relentless arguments and bashing ine another will be removed, followed by warnings and eventually getting banned.

Let us enjoy TM games, without linking all players to the regime and labeling other members with ridiculous accusations.

Y'all may go proceed the political agendas on the general forum!

Down with Islamic Republic in Iran. But keep football forum clean and united!

                    Wow! .. Majeed Halvaei !!!

What a gentleman and what a great footballer!

I remembar your father and was a big fan.... I saw him play many times when he was playing for PAS at Amjadeyey stadium. I also know some of his old teammates at PAS whom I had the pleasure of playing football with at University in US.

BTW- my teammates used to call me Majeed Halvaei any time I did a scissor kick which was your dad's trademark

                    Regards to your dad.

Yeah, I personally would’ve liked to have padded our options in the squad in DM with Ali Karimi for his passing, as well as Hosseinnejad for his ball carrying and playmaking.

Omid and Cheshmi are obviously very different profiles and I still favour Omid against higher quality opposition.

It’a not a bad shout though - Cheshmi in DM doesn’t expose his lack of pace, he’s not a bad distributor and I wouldn’t be surprised (or upset) if GN starts him given Omid’s 90 mins.

I think what is truly amazing for us is that we are going into the game after a game where we only used late substitutions.

We essentially will have a fresh Taremi, Torabi, Gholizadeh, Ghaedi, and Hajsafi against Qatar which is huge.

Hamintore. I also just rewatched the Japan game and Omid was sensational! Two of his balls led to dangerous chances for us. He was phenomonal! I think we should rest him for Qatar game and play him in the final.

This is the exact scenario and place we want to be be as a team. We played Asias highest ranked team and won. We play a team in the semis we’ve beaten multiple times and then we reach the final and play a team which can go neck to neck with us but have not beaten us in a while. We might lose. We might win. But reaching the final under the pressure Iran has faced is huge. We salute the team no matter what !
