We shouldn't forget, that some iranians has to feed their parents too. Not all of them were lucky to be doctors, engineers or some rich carpet sellers. Actually i know, that his family was very poor & they had to live in one of the most corrupt neighbourhoods of Berlin.
I don't get the complaints. As long as he is performing well for TM, who cares where he plays?

When he was in the EPL, he was constantly injured and couldn't play in many TM matches.

If he is the best player for his position, he will play. If he's not he won't.

Why is everyone so concerned with his personal decisions?

Funny how the same people that say the IPL is stacked with talent are upset that Ashkan might lose his form in Qatar. Well, if he does, we have plenty of talent to replace him.

Easy life, easy money-- he has to support his family after he retires in a few years, whereas regular people have careers spanning till they are 65.
When a soccer player retires from playing he can still earn money. He just needs to get a job like the rest of us.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

Rugs jan, I thought we select players based on their club performance? So if Askhan Dejagah played in the fifth division of Qatar for example, do you think he will continue to do well?

Qatar Stars League is not what we should aim for. We need ambitious players who are seeking to shine in Europe. Look at Haghighi..he fought himself to the World Cup from playing at some 2nd division team Sporting Covilha. Those players I truely respect.

Dejagah is 28, in the prime of his career and moves to Qatar..worse is that he thinks that hanging around in Qatar will not affect his TM status! Delusional.

Let's be real here. You can already see that his form dropped drastically during Asian Cup and the last friendlies. He can barely last 60 minutes. Amiri did much much better than him in the limited playing time he got.

I hate how we always resort to the usual "he needs to feed his family" stuff. He is a footballer who played years in Bundesliga and BPL, he was making millions already.

Wasn't Ali Karimi playing at Al Ahli, while he was playing his best games at team melli?

                @kiarash

Than u should watch his game against Chile again, where he was by far the best player on the field.

                  Amiri was better.

You're right. Qatar Stars League is not what our players should aim for but it's not so much different than the IPL (aside from superior facilities). At the end of the day, the QSL is your standard Middle Eastern league where players go as far as they want to.

Lets not forgot the legions of fans saying that Dejagah was the best player against Chile (and this is after nearly a season in Qatar). What's interesting is that it was the first time in a very long time that I saw him play the full 90 minutes without fatigue. I'm not saying this is thanks to the QSL but at least it shows that he's making the effort to stay in top shape.

For the purpose of competition, it's preferable that our players go to Europe but there are those that have ever only played in Iran and Qatar/UAE but have also performed well for Team Melli (i.e. Hosseini, Montazeri).

I don't know if we can solely rely on that.

I imagine CQ selects his players based on what he sees in training as well and the various fitness tests he conducts.

I mean, if Ashkan is playing well in TM and keeping his form, what's the problem?

At his age,he won't be a starter on an EPL team.So y not stay were he is for now.Its not like Dejagah was ripping shit up with Fullham. As long as he plays for TM like he did against Chili.I don't care which club team his playing for.He hasn't done that much either as in regards to scoring goals aside from his first game with TM when he scored two goals.Since then I think his only scored 2 or 3 more in his last 20 plus TM games. His best years scoring wise was in the Bundesliga that was like almost 10 years. In North America that would mean his on the decline in his career, pretty soon might be playing back home in Iran for Persepolis!

Well he make great games in Iran
Win a Under 21 EURO with Germany
Win the German League with WFL, and play in a famous club in England, Fulham.

If he choose to have a peace life, for me its okay, he deserve. I hope CQ continue to call him, he can help in experience and quality

Dejagah is probably one of the best players of our current TM squad, but one of the best in Iran's history I highly doubt.
He is incredibly inconsistent for TM. Look at the world cup, he was bad vs Nigera, very good vs Argentina, then bad again vs Bosnia.
Our two recent friendlies, he was very good (MOTM) vs Chile, but very poor vs Sweden. Until he starts to perform good more often, he is far away from becoming one of Iran's best ever.
